Fire Door Safety Week 2021 is here, serving as a reminder to make sure you are up to date with all your building compliance audits, as calls for greater awareness and education on fire door compliance are taking place across the UK.
Abloy UK and ASSA ABLOY Door Group have noted that in the current climate there are even more challenges in building compliance as a result of more flexible working in the UK following the pandemic, which has placed differing requirements on access control management, fire doors and occupant safety in commercial buildings.
“The commercial working environment has changed drastically over the last year, with many organisations adopting a more flexible way of working with a mix of on-site and working from home,” says Pat Jefferies, Commercial Director at Abloy UK.
“This means many commercial buildings will potentially have significantly reduced occupancy, but just because a building has fewer people in it, doesn’t mean fire safety can be overlooked or underestimated.”
The awareness week is running from 20-26 September 2021, with several free webinars available for people to attend, covering a range of topics, including an introduction to fire doors, the importance of fire and smoke leakage performance, fire door inspections, the importance of third party certification, and more.
