There could be improvements in the way air quality is monitored, controlled, and protected after some of the country’s leading experts come together at an upcoming event.

The Air Quality & Emissions (AQE) 2022 Live Event is preparing to take place on October 12th and 13th in Telford, showcasing the latest trends and regulations with regards to preventing further air pollution in the UK.

Environmental managers, control and instrumentation users, policy makers, local authorities, environment agencies, scientists, academics, solution providers and consultants are invited to attend the annual conference to discuss breakthroughs in the sector.

A spokesperson for AQE stated: “[We offer] a technical program aimed at keeping you up to date with the latest trends, regulations, methods, techniques and technologies. Furthermore, you can also network with all industry stakeholders, including suppliers, regulators and end-users from industry that need to monitor, test and analyse air quality and emissions.”

Described as the “number one event for anyone with a profession interest in emissions to air” by Siemens, the two-day showcase includes an exhibition, gala dinner, conferences, and seminars.

It has never been more important to address air pollution in the UK, after it was revealed to be the country’s biggest environmental health threat. It contributes towards 40,000 premature deaths a year, not including fatalities caused by indoor contamination, such as cigarette smoke or coal burners.

Being the 94th most polluted nation in the world also costs the economy more than £20 billion per annum. Lewes in England was found to be the most polluted city in the UK in 2021, while Midlothian in Scotland was the cleanest.
